AQUAMARINE
A blue-green variety of Beryl, the most famous of which is the chromium-rich green Emerald, Aquamarine derives its name from the Latin, meaning seawater. As with the ocean, Aquamarine’s sea-blue colouring ranges from the palest, lightest, crystal clear blue to deeper, darker blue and blue-green.
An Aquamarine’s value depends on its colour saturation; the more saturated the colour, the higher the value. While colour intensity dictates the value of many gemstones, the crystal clear, pale blue stones are most people’s preference.
